An Introduction

Fat or edible dormice, Glis glis, are small and secretive mammals found mainly in southern counties in England. They have a primarily vegetarian diet which includes flowers, fruits and nuts. They spend most of their time searching for food, and sleeping/hibernating in rather messy-looking nests made from shredded honeysuckle bark and leaves (Mammal Society, 1997).

Li-Li is a small and quiet mammal usually found in Devon. She is a vegetarian who enjoys being outdoors, and spends much of her free time hunting for snacks in the kitchen and sleeping in a messy bed constructed from wood, cotton and soft toys.

    adorable introduction really =DDD

awww yayyyyy my bed is also messy!!!! but I prefer it that way, as not folding the many blankets on it makes it fluffier and easier to burrow in ^_____________^

hahaha see I can be a small rodenty mammal too!

Aha! I saw your domain name last week but it just took me through to the livejournal - kept meaning to ask about that :-) I like the layout, and the name does seem strangely appropriate :-)

Hehe it took a while, as Tom had to set it up for me ;) There’s still a LOT to do with the layout and colours! One day I may have time… =P

Sorry to be negative about your “small and secretive mammals” as our experiences are rather the opposite.
We live in the Chilterns, slap bang in the middle of Glis Glis land in an old house with a attractive loft. At least to the local contingent.
Most nights, starting anywhere from 10.30pm to 2.00am they enter the loft (somehow) and charge about waking us up with scratching scuttling noises.
‘Humane’ cages are no use whatsoever, banging on the walls and ceiling has no effect, and we are at our WIT’S END to know what to do.
    Sleep depravation is awful!
Last year they inhabited the garage which is some way from the house, and made a nest of old chewed up bits and bobs lying around.
This year though they’ve come back with a vengeance. Little bleeders!
Even when you make eye contact and yell at them, they just carry on scuttling around.
So, I challenge your description. In my opinion they are noisy, boisterous party animals who are a pain in the neck.

Just off to buy some rat poison………….

Hehe, I can’t decide whether you entirely ruined my introduction, or exposed my hidden side ;) Maybe I should’ve gone for hazel dormice, but then http://www.muscardinusavellanarius.co.uk is a bit of a mouthful ;)

Yes I’ve heard they can be a terrible nuisance, and I completely empathise with the sleep deprivation =/ Chances are if your loft is a welcoming place, new ones are just going to keep on showing up =P …I think the best solution is just to give me your house ;)
