Blog of a sleepy dormouse
Today I finished Watership Down (by Richard Adams), after rescuing a second-hand copy for 20p =) I hadn’t read it since I was a child, although saw the animated version a few months ago. The book was immensely enjoyable – having studied rabbit behaviour for my dissertation and read several of R. M. Lockley’s studies (which Richard Adams used in creating the book), I now have far greater insight into how accurately their basic behaviour and habits are documented, even down to simple comments such as “I won’t stay any longer. I hate the rain”. It also helps that it’s extremely gripping and inventive writing! =’)

I haven’t read the book or any of the studies :)))
studied rabbit behaviour eh?
really, there is no one in this world more qualified or deserving of a rabbit (or many many constantly multiplying rabbits XDD) than you.
would the owner of the place you’re living in now really care if you got a tiny little rabbit?? =(
Awwww, one day I will have multiple rabbits!! =D It was so great studying the wild ones =’) (maybe I should steal some from Ramsey Island, they have about 20,000 more than they need!)
Argh, now you’ve reminded me of the black rabbit thingy. Scared…
Hey Lil! Nice blog
I love ‘Watership Down’ too - mine is a really old Seventies version though, that does actually say 20p on the back! Hehehe
Didn’t know you wanted a rabbit - I still do
One day I will have a country cottage with ducks, a goat and a couple of happy bunnies bouncing round in the front garden (gonna need some serious fencing going on though
).
Mine was 80p originally =’)
Awwwwww that’s so cute, I will come and visit you! =D I want a rabbit and a tortoise =’D It’s ever since I met Yuko and heard about her utterly adorable rabbits!
I really must read Watership Down again too! I have no idea how young I was when I first read it - I just remember that, like Andrew, I was very scared of the black rabbit!
And yes, we have have have to have our own rabbit as soon as we have somewhere to keep it!
Well, it’s sitting on the bookshelf about a metre from you…
Awwww but the black rabbit is really a nice creature that just happens to have a badly-publicised job, like Death in Discworld =)
