Blog of a sleepy dormouse
Gah!! I decided to draw a nice dormouse for my title bar… somehow my brain decided that this should be a hazel dormouse, Muscardinus avellanarius, rather than an edible dormouse, Glis glis, the namesake of this site. Whoops =P
It looks kinda cute as an interim dormouse though =’)
Fat or edible dormice, Glis glis, are small and secretive mammals found mainly in southern counties in England. They have a primarily vegetarian diet which includes flowers, fruits and nuts. They spend most of their time searching for food, and sleeping/hibernating in rather messy-looking nests made from shredded honeysuckle bark and leaves (Mammal Society, 1997).
